Mimo who?

Dear friends,

This is a MIMO I acquired some time ago.  Though the dial was not perfect at the edge of the case, overall condition was reasonable with a nice evenly aged dial, markers and hands.  The lugs were unusual and probably look better on a bund strap.  Could not find much info of this model with similar lugs.  The closest I found has hinged lugs that swing.

The case size is 32-33 mm (45 mm lug to lug) and trust me, it is very solidly built and has some heft despite of the small size.

From what I gathered including reading the postings by Crown Comfort, a german who owned MIMO took over GP and "MIMO" brand was meant for the European markets.  What puzzled me was the dial stamped with the name, Hardy and Hayes Co, a jeweler in Pittsburgh, Penn founded in 1887.  The printing on the dial look original but so far I have not been able to find another Hardy Hayes co-brand MIMO.

A few photos of this pretty odd piece of history which I hope is not bogus.  Unfortunately, I am not good at opening case backs so I do not have shots of the movements which very likely is an AS1130 smile.

Thoughts/feedback are most welcomed.

And what happened to MIMO as GP evolved over time?

Cheers!
SF
