I love my Zodiac Sea Wolf. The date feature doesn't bother me but I rarely set it unless it is only one or two days off. The reason for this is that it doesn't have a quick-set date so the hour hand has to go back and forth past 12:00 and back to 9:00 to get the date wheel to jump ahead. This seems like needless wear on the movement to me. Complicated by the fact that this movement has what's called an off-set canon pinion. The unique problem this brings is if it loosens and slips the seconds hand moves perfrctly but the minutes and hours lose (a lot) of time or don't move at all. It happened once an my watchmaker fixed it but I'd rather it not happen again. SO... am I being too cautious regarding by NOT setting the date? Or does setting the date have no relationship to the off-set canon pinion. Long story. Sorry. I hope everyone has a great day!
