I guess it was finally time. My newly-acquired Memovox Reveil:
Question for owners: how do you find the effort on turning the crowns for winding and setting this watch? I'm finding the winding to be a lot stiffer than I'd have anticipated, and I'm wondering if this just means the movement needs a service.
On the plus side it's running well and the alarm functions and chimes beautifully!

Be careful, I owned both the black and silver dial versions My experience is that yes, it is a little rough at the beginning but smooth once the crown is engaged Maybe check timekeeping before sending it to service And enjoy!

I find there’s a bit more resistance compared to the reverso 8 day movements and much more than the 889 movement. It’s not the highest resistance winding watch that I have (for example, the IWC 52010 is a lot stiffer). One confounding factor is that I’ve ...

I own an 8-day Reverso and it winds much more easily. BUT, as you say, it has a bigger crown that's much more easily grasped. I will probably just keep enjoying it as it is and get a service down the road.
As you probably know, the black dial one has a surprise on the other side!
