Be careful, I owned both the black and silver dial versions My experience is that yes, it is a little rough at the beginning but smooth once the crown is engaged Maybe check timekeeping before sending it to service And enjoy!

I own an 8-day Reverso and it winds much more easily. BUT, as you say, it has a bigger crown that's much more easily grasped. I will probably just keep enjoying it as it is and get a service down the road.
