Impulsive acquisition
Yesterday, while waiting for my dental appointment, I wandered into the Chopard boutique in the hope of taking a look at the 1860SS in the flesh but was told that the waiting list was very, very long. Instead I stumbled across this limited edition WG piece and was immediately moonstruck with the guilloche dial and the officer case. Much against my better judgment that it may not be a wise investment, I pulled the trigger and am now a very happy man.
The watch is COSC certified and has a Geneva Seal
Being a retired person, I may not have lots of opportunity to wear a dress watch but nonetheless will take it out of the safe from time to time and admire it as a fine piece of art....

...but if you buy what you love (and can afford) you are OK. The obvious solution is to buy pre-owned, but there are some things that you just want new...I totally understand that.

I think it is fabulous. One of the greatest micro rotor movements, extremely rare officer's black, beautiful dial.

I would have also been very tempted. A good friend got the green dial/yellow gold version last year. The hunter case back is very cool. Great watch I am sure you will enjoy! I think you can wear it fairly casually nowadays.

A collection is well balanced when it has also non-investment pieces, imho.

I really like this hunter caseback with guilloche! I think if you change it off the black leather to something else it will be less formal. Have the boutique throw in another strap!

They did....already ordered a shiny navy blue croco strap. Will take two to three months I was told.

you have fantastic taste and I think this watch is ideally suited for a retired person who doesn't have to worry about fixing pipes on deep sea oil rigs, flying a plane from jakarta to toronto three times per week, or timing the speed of your new space X ...

I’m not sure what an 1860SS is, but what you ended up acquiring is an absolute stunner;
Dial, officer’s caseback and movement. The crown looks unique too. Can you possibly share photos of the crown?

The crown is almost like a mono pusher, pressing which will open the hunter case. Will share photos when I take it out of the safe...

It would look sportier and acceptable for daily wear with a light blue or gray or green strap imho. Hope you use it often and have fun. That hunter case is to die for really.
