Well, I took the watch into the AD today and showed a print of the photograph to the sales person who sold me the watch, and then I showed her the watch. She immediately called the assistant manager over. He looked at the photograph and the watch and said, without any prodding on my part, that they would exchange it. He asked the sales person to look around and see where another of the same model was available. She went in back, and found that some more Breguets had come in, including a 5817 stainless steel with a bracelet.

So after a fair amount of paperwork and their adjusting the new bracelet to fit me, I walked out with a new watch to replace the one with misaligned hands. And yes, we did check to be sure that this one's hands line up properly.

I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. I didn't expect problems since the watch clearly had a manufacturing defect. But I expect them to simply take the watch and send it to Breguet for warranty service. Instead, they replaced the watch with no difficulty or drama.

So it looks like this story has a happy ending.
