For me, the Porsche Macan is a perfect size; I don't need the size of the huge X5 (unless I am taking passengers all the time) so the X3 or the Porsche Macan or the Audi SQ5 would be a great size for me. In America, it is becoming more and more of a necessity to own a small "Crossover SUV" due to the fact that there are so many SUVs on the roads here that you can almost be at a safety disadvantage to not own one sometimes.
But you're right, the X5 offers a tremendous value, easy serviceability due to the availability of numerous dealerships, and has the benefits of being a mainstream car.
I did have the pleasure of piloting the latest X5 and I have to say, it's an experience to be in. Yours is especially handsome with its dark blue exterior. You mentioned the 8-speed automatic transmission and I am pleased to report that this is one of the best automatic transmissions I've ever driven. I love the 8-speed and I congratulate ZF for creating such a wonderful transmission.

All of the PuristSPro members whom come to mind have two children who have the C63 and the M3 seem to make it work quite well with their families. They're all exciting cars.
