It's about time for me to do a proper road trip as well as i can't really remember when was the last time i really had fun out in my car.

Only problem i have is that road trips often change into race-trips once the roads are empty and start slinging smile

Great trip in a future classic!

Nice Elan. One of the best and most fun FWD chassis out there. Love the photos of the desert landscape. Wojo

I thoroughly enjoyed your road trip ...

My trick is to go on a weekday prior to a big holiday - such as Memorial Day which is coming this weekend. Everyone is home either at work or preparing lists for shopping, repairing tents, gathering stuff around the garage, etc. Tonight they will be packi...

Thank you for the additional info, it appears to be an absolutely great area. A friend and colleague of mine travelling with his 4x4 Iveco through the Americas, I will suggest him to eventually visit that area. Marcus

. . . which, if memory serves correct, probably had more apple pie vendors than LA. I drive over thirty thousand miles a year, almost all for pleasure, but curiously, no pleasure drives per se . A conundrum, no? ;-)

Wow! 30k miles? All between your house and the pool hall(s)?

I think I average only 10-12k but that's spread across 6 cars. Probably 5-6 "pleasure" drives a year like the one I reported on here. Plus going to (or in) the occasional auto show. ...

Mostly. Practice halls are 20+ miles away . . .

Thanks for sharing this great pleasure drive with us, Mike!

The Lotus definitely seems to deliver. And in spite of its fantastic chassis, I guess FWD was too much for traditionalists...
