Just because it looks so cool... I concur, the Porsche Cayenne is easier to drive. Having driven the Cayenne Turbo for a few days, I really enjoyed the car. RPMs are too low in 8th gear at 100 kph (62 mph) so the car has a lot of vibration/harshness when ... 

Lapland in the winter and we need to cross 1 km of a muddy field when going to the farm (will built a road next year). I tried most of the high quality SUV and ended buying a Cayanne S with V8 diesel engine. Porsche is great on high ways, top speed of 252... 

It’s mostly city driving or highway cruising. Good to know you chose the Porches for those reasons and it performed to your expectations. Rgds Raymond

... a Mercedes GL 350 diesel with 258 hp out on the Autobahn. Topspeed is supposed to be 225 kph which felt like cruising in my sofa. Downhill i was able to take it easily up to 246 but the Skoda in front of me couldn't go any faster, still it felt rock s...

Raymond, I was waiting to collect my car after service and, you know, just walked around the showroom. Just looking....no need for a salesman to follow me....I'll let you know if I see something. One of the vehicles that caught my eye was a Geländewagen ....  

The color will be appropriate. Dealers told me black, white and silver are most popular and exotic colors are hard to sell, and they don’t even want a trade. Here in US, we have G550, G63 and the crazy V12 G65, plus those 4x4 550 which are collectors item... 

First let me say I love the look of the G and one of my neighbors has one to go with his Aston Martin. Years ago I got very close to buying a Hummer H1 - they look so very cool, especially the long cab station wagon models. And they are the real deal. But...

Our country lanes are very narrow with dedicated "passing places" where two-way traffic get around each other. As MikeR warned earlier, the logistics of ownership must be considered... MTF

I saw one that had custom made foldable seats that face each other (backs face the side windows) installed in the trunk. Had seat belts too. Wish Mercedes did this as an option because I need a 7 seater. Cheers, Anthony

So maybe a Hummer H1 will suit your needs. Its just 3 of us in my family so my options are plenty. I was hoping the new Cayenne have more facelift but it did not change much, plus I’m wary on new electronics. Rgds Raymond

When I was car shopping ~2 years ago I looked hard at the G-Class. However I just couldn’t reconcile the interior with the price, especially when seeing the new Benz interiors (e.g. in S and E class). For what it’s worth I think they’re preparing a ‘new’ ... 

I will build it, to choose the options, colors etc. and have it in 2018. This one is quite good except I prefer the flat bottom steering wheel. Rgds Raymond

In the end, I couldn't do it. It is really hard going from a Cayenne with its incredible sports car-like hearing so this one. All the reasons you list are motivating for sure, but I just couldn't give up the "on the rails" handling on the Porsche for the ...

.... to make it drive better than any brick, so i guess speeds up to 200 kph should not be a big issue, offcourse doing 250 in this will make quite a bit of noise. Suspension-wise this will be topnotch as well. Filip

My dealer said driving feel, the G550 is better than the G63. I will be very afraid driving this tank at 200kph, my friend😱 Rgds Raymond

I had never driven one before. I drove to LA and really did not like the ride on the highway. Over the next few days I drove around LA and really liked driving the G in the city. I felt tough, seemed to rule the road. I came home thinking it would be fun ... 

Try the G63 AMG when you get chance, it's so beefy. Hope to hear your ownership experience soon. Rgds Raymond

... not this one. For me, the G class always was a workhorse, but it has been degenerated to a luxury accessory. Nobody buying this V8 will ever use the low gear, or all the diff locks, or exploit its capabilities. So all the effort put into the developme... 

with more countries announcing no more gasoline or Diesel engines by 20xx years, these big block gas guzzlers may be something people will give you that stare, for not being environmental friendly. I drove through Prague, Vienna, Monsee, Salzburg last yea...
