I have known many folks with Range Rovers, Defenders, Discoveries, and Landies

I went to the launch of R-R in the USA, and several other LR press events, and did some service development work with the dealer in town.
Some of my pals were quite fortunate while other owners had their share of problems. 🙁
I have a LR scan tool if you need to read any codes
Generally I'd say they are great fun to drive, on and off-road especially, and comfortable to sit in (the front), but not so fun when you have to take it in to the dealer.
I'm adding this summary chart from JD Power who for many years has done reliability studies of US market cars.
It says typically there are 2x as many issues with a Land Rover as there are with a KIA, or another way to say it is each vehicle had 2.84 reliability issues.
That's not too many, really, but it's more than any of brands experience.
My friends still love them, so the charisma of the vehicle overwhelms the annoyance of the occasional issue.
Disclaimer - I have met Mr Power, but I never worked for him and it was before he sold the company in 2005.
It has since had a number of owners but the survey methodology remains generally the same.
