You still have to take into account the total production costs, including energy as well as materials. You also have to consider how the electricity for charging stations gets generated. You have to consider distance driven each year. And how long you keep a vehicle.
For someone who keeps their vehicle for 10 years or more and drives very little the answer as to what to buy, or not buy at all, may be quite different.
