You shouldn't assume that we buy watches in the hope that they appreciate, I think for most of us here that is not the case. I know that my watch will depreciate, I just didn't expect that AP would accelerate the process by 30% within a month of my purchase. If I'd wanted to lose 30% immediately I would have bought shares in Facebook.
It's easy to take your view if you're not in the market for a £40,000 watch.

In this case, the complaining OP should not play at this level if he/she is not comfortable losing some of his/her money in depreciation. Doesn't matter if this is 400, 4000 or 400,000 watch.
