Audemars Piguet

In hindsight it was worth it

Once bitten twice shy..today I was bitten by the Rolex service centre in Sydney. Their message was clear - even if anyone had the means to service a piece, even if the piece is real, it is their discretion and power to accept/reject it. It's like buying a second-hand Mercedes Benz, and trying to send it back for a annual service, and getting it thrown back at you, even when the warranty booklet optimistically says one can get it serviced at any of their international service centres. Really "Too Bad" scenario!
Ok, I am wearing this AP for the week, to reminisce of good service and reliability. I think AP is as close as it is to the gold standard to after-sales servicing.
My late dad passed down an old Quartz Omega SM to me, and I have to get that fully refurbished to its glory days. I am hoping hard, they'd do it, even if they hit me hard with expenses, I don't mind saving up for the service because the heritage is more important than penny counting.
I guess whether a watch can be passed down really boils down to the strength of their authorized service centres.
