I totally disliked this watch myself when initially released, and maybe the dial color not for everyone but the movement’s precision and operation is quite impressive(and I handled a couple). Daniel Wellington wishes to have a movement as this!
First off, major congrats on the Montoya in Titanium, I do think it's a terrific choice! ;-) As for the Code, it looks like they have made some substantial improvements on the dial side...
...which I believe was the main concern many collectors had with these new references last year. Even though I'm honestly still far from an enthusiast, since I had a chance to see the Code in person, I'm also much more positive about what AP is trying to ...

I wasn't impressed at all at launch. But seeing it in person after has really started to make it grow on me. The blue and burgundy dials, in particular, are super pleasing to the eye.

I think it keeps the fume dial from fully “radiating”. Of course, that date window needs to go as well. Interesting comment about the pushers as it made me reconsider. I’m thinking discreet pushers would work well with this kind of elegant design rather h...
I see your point about the circles but I feel that if absent , it would make the subdials less legible.
I think most see this watch as a dress watch, while I feel that AP tried to make a functional “tool” chronograph in a precious metal case! As others mentioned the dial is debatable but the movement is one of the best automatic movements I tested.
Probably why I prefer the time (sadly with date) version as the dial is brought into more prominence. No doubt about the movement. Lots to really like about this one. Also, I think the initial storm of negative comments have already subsided..
It's a really serious offering from AP. And if all we're talking about are dial preferences, then we know they're in a good place

I share your observations, the dial design can use some improvements, and I find the case a bit tall due to the barrel structure.
But then again,is there perfection???
It is a robust mvmt. Is it a game changer - No. Is it better than competitors- No.
..but its a start. It is in-house and hopefully it can be improved upon. Wud i buy this mvnmt put in their JA or RO case? Likely.

I saw them once last year at a boutique. Since day 1, the case design / structure and movements have been ultra alluring to me. The recently launched dials are definitely nice to my eyes. I expect to own a piece from this collection in the coming year or ...
Now with the new dial, I am starting to like it more! Although, I now wish for the hands to change and for the watch to be generally cheaper :p
I really like the case and the movement, they are awesome! The hands and dial are my problems and they have fixed one out of two, and the bigger one of the two! So I actually like it now, but it is still not my fav ap but getting close!
