AP Service Question
When I purchased my fourth AP, ROO Themes, I was very excited. Later, I noticed that THE PAINT ON THE TACHYMETER RING STARTED TO PEEL! So, I sent it to the AP service center in Clearwater, FL. AP did not provide me with an explanation on how this may have happened, but they did give me an estimate to repair the watch. Even though I thought it was a defect, an error on their part, I paid.
Soon after receiving my watch back, IT STOPPED TELLING TIME! So, back to the AP service center in Clearwater it went. AP provided me with an estimate for a complete overhaul. Again, I paid.
Then, IT STOPPED WORKING AGAIN! This time AP covered the repair.
Shortly after that, I went swimming for the first time. I made sure the crown was completely screwed in, but THERE WAS CONDENSATION IN MY WATCH by the end of my swim! At this point my watch did not have a sing scratch or a ding. Being that I had already sent my watch in 4 TIMES before this and hadn't had a chance to enjoy the watch, I decided not to send it back to AP right away. Instead, I sent an e-mail to Jonathan from the Bal Harbour Botique notifying him about the issue. It wasn't until a few months later that I brought it to Westime at Brickell City Centre to send to the Clearwater service center FOR THE FOURTH TIME!
By this time, my watch had a few scratches and a ding. So, AP voided my warranty and did not investigate to see what may have caused the leak. I suspect that the water got in through the pushers because of what was or wasn't done during the previous service.
I wish AP would have opened my watch to see what may have caused the leak, but they didn't. Instead they sent me ANOTHER proposal for ANOTHER complete overhaul even though there was nothing wrong with the watch telling time. I thought it was ridiculous, so I declined, and had it sent back to Westime.
What a nightmare! I'm very disappointed in this purchase and won't be recommending AP to anyone.
At this point, I'll probably pick it up and sell it at a loss to fund something more reliable like a Rolex, Vacheron, or Patek. What would you do?
