15202 hypothetical question

Aug 04, 2018,06:37 AM

This 39mm Royal Oak is regarded quite well on the forum, and we all know the Royal Oak is the brand staple.

If you could configure your own version, choosing case metals and dial colors / details, what would you design?  Imagine how easy it would be for AP to make "micro" editions of this watch... 500 with a black dial, 500 with a grey dial, etc.  Thankfully, they do not do this with the Royal Oak 15202.  For 2018, we do have the titanium and platinum LE.

I would be curious to see an all titanium version with a black dial.  I generally don't see a different bezel material from the case material being successful on the Oak (2018 LE aside, it looks great), and prefer mine in the same material.  Tantalum, we all enjoy that too, but I think I would enjoy seeing the watch in all titanium (even though the current steel model is "just right" on weight, a titanium version might feel too light).

I look forward to your thoughts.

An all titanium version with black dial and black date window.... All gray ceramic would also be very cool!

I'd love to see the iconic blue dial, with a black date wheel, in a 38mm tantalum case...

My choice as well, except . . .

. . . with Arabic numerals like the 50 piece Italia Jumbo from years ago. Let's make it our P20 anniversary watch! M4

Changing my mind.

Give me this green dial with white Arabic numerals in a steel case 15202 and I'm all over it! Green is a difficult color but if this photo is an accurate representation of the AP green, it's top, top, TOP! M4 ...

But I'd settle for tantalum and grey dial.

Great to see you here, Park.

I tried the YG with blue dial. It was extremely seductive.

Tantalum

I’d like to see a solid Tantalum version (no two-tone). Case, dial, bezel and bracelet in solid tantalum. That would be awesome.

Tantalum, it's already been done, but I really like the material. Tantalum should be polished and brushed on certain parts of the watch to create a nice effect. I really like the current blue dial with the blue date disc. Maybe a brighter blue dial would ...

I have to assume you are now using 'Gay' in its somewhat archaic form meaning

playful. Which I would agree with. The Royal Oak is perhaps unique in its interplay of feminine and masculine elements; and also worn by women. Perhaps English is not your first language, but could you try to elaborate your idea with somewhat less boorish...

And maybe cermet bracelet with the new anniversary blue dial. Nearly indestructible, scratch proof - and ensures the Royal Oak hallmarks are protected for at least a lifetime or two Still praying for this one!!! Peter

I have enjoyed everyone's replies. Some good ideas in here.
