As a once self proclaimed Lange fan boy…
I loved Lange. I bought pieces new from an AD, pieces from renowned auction houses and even grey market (gasp). When Lange shifted to boutique sales, I walked into a boutique thinking I’d be a valued customer, only to be relegated to “we don’t know you”. It was a shock to realize even if you owned many Lange pieces and had registered them, you were only of value if you then cultivated a relationship with a specific boutique. The bundling offer was a step too far. Shortly thereafter I sold most of my Lange. I have no other words to add other than Lange lost their way and disregarded the people most passionate about their success. Was the trade off worth it?

Lower production will probably help with value retention somewhat, but it seems like tough economic times to require that much bundling. I recall approx four years ago they did require one additional purchase, and I wanted a Lange1, so it wasn't a put off...

Brands like ALS and Grand Seiko that got named ''bang for buck'' in their specific categories sure listened to their clients and took that feedback to heart and did a number on them.

Doesn't that mean they're directly addressing the bundling issues? If they don't make as many base dress models but more complications which I assume everyone wants, there should be less need to force bundles...

is this any different from if you were to go to a different Patek, AP, Rolex, etc? (i.e. are there brands on allocation that will recognize one's collection even if it was procured via a different retailer or second-hand)?

I’ve lost the love for the brand with these policies . I find AP , Piaget, Chopard , Patek, Rolex , JLC accommodating and are top notch in customer services . Even FPJ acknowledges the patronage and working hard to get the pieces even with limited product...

Crazy choice
Lange is alienating so many potential customers. Not everyone has over 50k laying around to spend on a watch that will lose a huge chunk of its value as you walk out the door.
from what i understand of the hermes process
it makes the lange policy seem like charity. Though oddly, it doesn't seem like you see a ton of dirt cheap as-new scarves, saddles or whatever other stuff they jam customers with on the resale market.
