Lange Honey Gold Zeitwerk Launch Event New York City

Moderator Patrick_y photo documents a special and mysterious Lange & Soehne event in New York City.
Lange & Soehne had a special event in New York City, from the
invitation I couldn't get any details, I didn't even
know what the event was for, was it to launch a new watch? A customer
appreciation event? There was only one clue... "announcement" suggested there was a new watch! You've read the title, so you know it's the Honey Gold Zeitwerk launch event, but when I attended this event, I had no idea what the event was about!
Are
you kidding? Is this some hot new nightclub? I don't queue (except for watch events). There was a 100 foot
long line to get into this event! Was I even at the right place? Nothing seemed right! Well, at least this cool crowd had some people wearing nice watches, I'll join them! As usual, I was overdressed!
Ladies and Gentlemen, the presentation is about to begin! At first they only showed the number "25" and then they slowly zoomed out to reveal the Zeitwerk dial. Notice the number "25" was used to throw me off the scent! I thought it was going to be a new watch with a date! 25 is used on the date windows of Lange watches. But 52 is used in the minutes window of the Zeitwerk. Why? Because at 7:52 you take your seats at the Dresden Semper Opera House, and the opera starts at 8PM! So, next time, quiz your Lange friends about why they have "7:52" on the dial. Most people say it's "7 days a week and 52 weeks a year" and that is totally incorrect!
It's in Honey Gold! A Honey Gold Zeitwerk Luminous! As a purchaser of one of the original Honey Gold timepieces back in 2010, I'm happy to see Lange is continuing the tradition of making 18K Honey Gold timepieces. Honey gold is a very subtle gold. It is between white gold and rose gold. It doesn't have the richness nor warmth of rose gold nor yellow gold; but it is definitely warmer toned than white gold. In daylight, the watch has a warm white gold look, and at night or in indoor lighting, the watch has a slightly more yellowish tint than it does in daylight. Another practical benefit about Honey Gold is that it's significantly harder than normal 18K gold, which means a noticeable reduction in small scratches! Wow, hard to imagine, I purchased a honey gold timepiece already ten years ago! Lange has had the Honey Gold material for over ten years, but hasn't really produced many watches in the special material over the years.
Here's another photo to give you an idea about the gold color. It looks almost like rose gold here! Most Lange watches with a rose gold case don't have the brushed center band that this one has. Honey gold watches usually have a brushed center case band.
The Luminous Datograph and the Luminous Grande Lange 1 Moonphase. These watches weren't for sale but served as a reminder that Lange has made luminous watches before!
The original Zeitwerk Luminous in platinum and the Lange 1 Lumen.
An amazing performance was put on by a special Grammy winning performer.
Our live entertainment played a private piano concerto with several
pieces of famous German piano music. The piano was also a Steinway,
another testament to German craftsmanship. It was exquisite and
tremendously enjoyable. Great watches and a private concert! What an incredible experience and a lovely evening! Thank you
Lange! Apologies for the poor photo, there was a dry ice effect in the room which confused the camera's auto-focus.
It was a good looking and extremely young crowd! I was shocked at how young this crowd was! Lots of young urban professionals in their 30s at this event! It's interesting to see that such a wide range of people appreciate the workmanship at Lange! A great product is universally appreciated!
Thank you Lange for hosting such a great event during these unusual pandemic times! Everyone I spoke with was very pleased with every aspect of the event!
