Thank you for sharing your story. I too love the L1. You have a beauty. I love the black dial with white gold/platinum background but felt the grande Lange 1 (where the black dial is more prevalent) didn’t fit my wrist as well as the traditional L1 so I went with the white dial on white gold (with lume which I too like a lot). Have not had one moment of regret. Beautiful choice and terrific story of how you got to your decision.

CR, I concur the L1’s lume is better than my PAM
PAM 959 that is. Arbitrarily it is about 30% better, and both were not charged up. Kinda disappointed in the PAM to be honest.
