Keep an eye out for me?
Oct 17, 2017,03:52 AM
Ladies and Gents,
It’s been about a month since my trip to London and I had an incident while I was there. While walking back from dinner with my wife, I was robbed of my Chopard LUC 150.
It’s taken me a while to process what happened and frankly, to get over the incident. It’s not due to the violence of the event...I carried a rifle in Iraq and Afghanistan, but it took me a while to get over the emotions of the thing. Shame, I suppose, was the prevalent feeling.
I don’t expect to ever see it again, and luckily it was insured (I won’t claim it yet...keeping my fingers crossed), but if you see my platinum lady, please let me know. The Metropolitan police would like to have a chat with the new “owner”.

Terrible news and I am so sorry to hear that. At least you're physically unharmed. Where in London did this happen? Best E.
I sincerely hope you’re fine your wife and you

As watchonthewrist wrote, please give us few pictures of your Chopard with its serial numbers. We’ll keep an eye on it. Hope everything will be better soon. Best wishes Alkiro
Thank you, everyone

I appreciate your concern. Thankfully, no one hurt, just my pride. I’ve attached photos below. I’m hoping it pops up sometime in the next few years. Hopefully from an auction house which will do the proper thing when notified it was stolen. ...
Scary and shocked

Hope the watch will be back on your wrist in no time! Cheers and fingers crossed Kolosstt
It's not an easy watch to hide

sneakattack, Deep sympathies! However, there are not many platinum L.U.C 150 and as it is a piece unique, it will be difficult to service or hide. Did you inform Chopard After Sales department? Regards, MTF
Yes, but thank you for the advice
By: Sneakattack : October 17th, 2017-15:01
my thinking exactly, so I immediately notified the global sales manager I met earlier this year. He notified all boutiques and the service center to keep an eye out for the watch. Still, the kind of person to do this may never send it in for service. We’l...
Me too

sneakattack, I also informed him but that was before I found out you already did. Not your name but the watch is unique. in any case, once they see the watch, they know you already. Regards, MTF
Thank you!

To be honest, this has given me an opportunity to focus on my hifi system over the past few weeks.
Im sorry to know of your loss :(

one cant be too careful these days I guess. I hope you were not physically hurt tho. Thanks for sharing your story with us thus reminding us to be always vigilant of our surrounding. It is a beautiful piece and I sincerely hope she will find her way home ...
Some (partially) good news?
By: Sneakattack : December 5th, 2018-11:49
I wanted to update the forum with some developments in this case. After the theft of this watch in September 2017, I notified Chopard and they promised that they would keep an eye out for the watch. On Monday, I received a call from Mr. M at Chopard. They...
Keeping our fingers crossed for you...

I'm worried that i'm getting too hopeful
By: Sneakattack : December 7th, 2018-10:51
But we'll see. With a little luck, a lot of the issues will be resolved by Monday. I'll keep making updates in the main thread.
One way or another, however it goes

Chopard has earned themselves a loyal customer if this is the kind of service they perform. An amazing company.
Remaining optimistic!

So, I'll write a different thread on the entire experience with dealing with watch recovery, but I thought an update would be good. 1) I drafted a letter (or rather, my lawyer did) and sent it to the Beijing auction house as well as their NYC office. The ...

Most likely at the restaurant I was eating dinner. It's one of those things where I never worried about such an action before. I don't want to say I'll worry about it now, but at the very least, it's in the back of my mind. Update: The Beijing officer ind...
Update 3: Feeling less downbeat
By: Sneakattack : December 11th, 2018-10:26
So, apparently the consigner of the watch isn't bothering to meet with the police, which is something I expected. As a result the only proof of ownership is mine. Also, I was informed by my lawyers that there is a law enforcement treaty between China and ...
Thank you,

I’ve read of several failed recoveries over the years, so I’m not super optimistic, but we’ll see. As it is, the watch remains in the possession of the Beijing police. I’m hoping that reason will prevail. If anyone has experience with the Hong Kong used w...
