Chronographs and chronometers ....

By: nilomis : February 22nd, 2018-03:00
Team, Let me try a with a watch that I choose to have dinner last night: The Olympic Official Timekeeper is part of a trio from the Omega Specialities, limited to 188 pieces. This one is the reference 522.53.38.50.04.001, in white gold. The case is classi...

I understand ...

By: nilomis : February 22nd, 2018-04:57
I'm from the time that Omega had the reference number. This large number describes not only the watch, case material and even the strap and buckle. Not practical. But there are more creative ones, like JLC that uses not one number, the one that is engrav...

This Olympic Omega has one of most unusual

By: Ares501 - Mr Green : February 22nd, 2018-10:03
now how to put it...case shapes...no it's round....lugs...it has no lugs but connection of case and band ....beautiful piece. Cheers D

Gorgeous salmon Olympic dial Mr D. Very nice 👌

By: Alkiro1 : February 22nd, 2018-03:16
Well, I’m not a chrono collector but I can play with at least two watches in my collection. My Breitling Spatiographe Montbrillant and my FPJ... Chronometre Bleu (yes, I’m in the thematic with this one 😉). Best wishes Alkiro ...

the CB really is a stunning watch.

By: nafetS : February 22nd, 2018-06:16
I still ASK myself whether it was the right choice to pass on it, when I've been in the FPJ boutique...

It was this or a LF Micro-rotor.

By: nafetS : February 22nd, 2018-06:30
I chose the LF Back then and I'm still Happy with it. But I also still want the CB.

Thank you Mr D

By: Alkiro1 : February 22nd, 2018-10:20
I was talking about the “Olympic Chronometre Suisse” with the salmon dial. Not the GP 😉 Sorry I didn’t understand your first sentence. My FPJ Chronometre Bleu is not qualified? Best wishes Alkiro

Ah, that FPJ...

By: Harry2 : February 23rd, 2018-18:24
Gets me every time. The dial and case look so good in that last photo. The legibility and the contrast of colours is just perfect.

Probably out on my own here.....

By: nomadgiles : February 24th, 2018-07:26
.....my favourite is your slate blue 906 😉 And the Duometre is to die for! Cheers, G.

Thank you my friend

By: nomadgiles : February 22nd, 2018-11:57
The blue dial UN is to be my new wrist mistress tho’ 😉 Best. Giles.

Hmmhh.. Let me see how to play..

By: hs111 : February 22nd, 2018-07:05

This picture was my inspiration

By: Arie - Mr Orange : February 22nd, 2018-12:31
I can’t recall who posted it. But this Purist made a near perfect 7 piece line up. This picture is also the reason why I aspire to reduce my modest collection to 12. ...

So now I know who to thank for my current financial depleted state...

By: Arie - Mr Orange : February 22nd, 2018-13:03
🤦🏻‍♂️ On a serious note; thank you Alex for the inspection. A collection can’t be diverse enough!

Here we go, two times three

By: crown comfort : February 22nd, 2018-09:16
Three of each: This one for Damjan because I know it kills you This one because it is the ultimate Chronograph complication: Rattrapante Foudroyante. And this one because it is my most elegant Chronograph. On to Chronometers: A classic C-Shape in steel: A...

Your 1966 chrono is so nice. Definitely my favourite here

By: Alkiro1 : February 22nd, 2018-10:12
Regarding your Gyrodate, genius calendar definitely. Perpetual, I have a doubt 😊 Best wishes Alkiro

You knew . . .

By: Dr No : February 22nd, 2018-10:14
. . . this was coming. What I didn't know until just now: Time Waits for No One has never been performed on stage . . . at least, not by the Stones. (Youtube search brought up a talented group of musicians performing a cover.) Hard to believe . . .

Coming attraction - waiting for my latest ref 2364 . . .

By: Dr No : February 22nd, 2018-10:54
. . . to be fitted with a custom grey alligator strap later today. Pic of that Ω chronomètre alongside his ref 2365 brother will be posted tomorrow. Promise!

By: Ares501 - Mr Green : February 23rd, 2018-06:14
I'm sure there is at least one winner among them. Have a great weekend! Your D

Thanks a lot dear Alkiro for your so kind comments. Yes, the vintage Longines chrono is a very special piece indeed. I only regret that I never could reach...

By: Subexplorer : February 23rd, 2018-11:39
... a Longines 13ZN chrono which nowadays has escalated their values so much that it belongs to the "unreachable" niche for me. But anyway this piece is a very nice and classic chrono with a movement which is second only to the famous 13ZN I feel. Glad yo...

Vintage dress chronographs are so nice on the wrist

By: NT931 : February 23rd, 2018-05:29
Especially when they have blued hands! Wore these during a week of blued hands for me, both modern and vintage ...

Forget the rg's for now - this Ω chronometre . . .

By: Dr No : February 23rd, 2018-07:11
. . . came in yesterday's mail. Hardcore Ω-philes will recognize the significance immediately: nearly 100K Connies issued with a cal 505, likely under a thousand Seamasters. I've seen maybe ten in the last ten years, in every variation - steel (Bill Sohne...

Not sure I can fit a dozen into one pic . . .

By: Dr No : February 23rd, 2018-08:18
. . . but I'll give it a shot when they're all together, hopefully within a few months. Still waiting for one to return from service, and this one will be going to my watchmaker next week. Best, Art

I'm on a roll! . . .

By: Dr No : February 23rd, 2018-08:11
. . . three in under twelve weeks . . . that's a personal best - or worst, depending on your point of view.

I believe most cal 505 Seamasters were American issue . . .

By: Dr No : February 23rd, 2018-12:52
. . . based on my experiences - all were Norman Morris models save for one or two. And I only recall having seen maybe ten altogether. So they probably weren't seen often outside the US. Uncommon here, rare everywhere else. Warmest, Art

One of these would fit in nicely with your collection . . .

By: Dr No : February 23rd, 2018-13:29
. . . although I expect any you'd find in Europe would be ref OT 2909 versions in solid 18 kt yellow gold. Art

The beveled outer section of the dial is the same color . . .

By: Dr No : February 24th, 2018-13:06
. . . as the inner section, it just reflects light differently. A slight change in position results in varying shades between the center and rim of the dial. When it comes to two-tone Ω dials, the Japanese market Connies of the late '60s . . . . . . first...

I just spent the better part of an hour reviewing our Omega forum . . .

By: Dr No : February 24th, 2018-12:29
. . . and found only one reference to a cal 505 Seamaster chronometer, appropriately from Bill Sohne nine years ago. Gold capped, and likely cased in Switzerland, judging by this image. Reams of posts relating to bumper SM chronometers and '60s 551/56x/75...

I don’t think I have a proper proper chronometer...

By: i_am_Sam : February 23rd, 2018-08:20
But I’ll play My take for chronometer (I know not a proper chronometer) -and my latest Chronograph Have a great weekend everyone Sam ...

Thanks my friend!

By: Joepny : February 23rd, 2018-11:11
the milanese bracelet is good. the NATO strap colors don’t work with this watch. glad it did not cost much. 😁

thanks for the kind words Abel! ☺️

By: Joepny : February 24th, 2018-07:53
I hope we can meet at a GTG one day. If you ever have plans to be in the NYC area and have free time, please PM one of the us guys up here — me or the gentlemen Padj or Willski who you probably know about too. HAGWE! -joe

thanks CC! 🙏

By: Joepny : February 24th, 2018-05:36
I wonder if any company makes a quick release milanese bracelet. the one I use is a real pain to change out.

When everyone is posting such beautiful pieces, I have to get the "dream team" together.

By: Rogi : February 23rd, 2018-10:52

WOW my friend WOW...I didn't know you have Observatory HF wow again

By: Ares501 - Mr Green : February 23rd, 2018-11:14
You really got me what I also must confess this is first time I see Observatory Chronometer written in two lines Cheers D

Thank you my friend, GP did a wonderful restoration on this piece and affixed the uncommon (although I’m starting to think its rare) Observatory Chronometer HF

By: Rogi : February 23rd, 2018-12:07
I’ve seen this dial combo on two other Observatories but both in gold. The previous owner is a friend and I’m eternally grateful to him for this piece. On posting it, I’m like Smeagol with “My Precious” it doesn’t see the forums bright lights too much heh...

Since I am a "No Chrono" guy I will ....

By: blomman Mr Blue : February 23rd, 2018-13:42
Limit myself to a few Chronometers'.... But of course, there are always some exceptions to the rule... Best Blomman ...

That box and that Observatory...o la o la

By: Ares501 - Mr Green : February 23rd, 2018-14:22
It's even green inside...my God.. Outstanding input once more. Enjoy your weekend dear friend. Cheers D

What a line up Mr B!!

By: nomadgiles : February 24th, 2018-07:51
JL 906’s and s blue dial HF so rarely seen. And love the indecies on the Zenith too. Superb. Cheers, G.

Its hard to choose....

By: blomman Mr Blue : February 24th, 2018-09:40
That is why I always ends up with a bunch of each theme I go for... Thank you, my friend! Best Blomman

Here is my duo

By: Harry2 : February 23rd, 2018-14:08
Interestingly enough, these have the two ETA workhorses as well. Modified 7750 in the Sinn and a chronometer grade ETA 2824 in the Doxa. It was difficult to get a good view of the dial with the rubber strap on the Sinn, however it is a beautiful strap to ...

It is such a satisfying watch

By: Harry2 : February 23rd, 2018-18:15
When you think about the history (for example, Cousteau's dive team used them), the quality, the design, the way it wears and then the price! You have a winner. Such a nice and enjoyable watch. One that you get your money's worth for. They even went to th...

I think that Doxa is super-cool

By: crown comfort : February 24th, 2018-00:38
we saw them so often here when they came out, but not so much anymore, so thanks for sharing again.

Great line up KM!

By: nomadgiles : February 24th, 2018-07:45
the last one I’ve not seen before - very well balanced subdial size and position - I like it a lot! Cheers, G.

Thanks Giles!

By: KMII : February 24th, 2018-09:03
The last one was the watch that got me to Puristspro in the first place - the Chopard LUC Chrono One. Their first in-house chrono movement, too

Only a little entry

By: MTF : February 24th, 2018-06:25
The entries so far are overwhelming in quantity and quality. I only dare venture with a little red chronometer..... Chopard Mille Miglia 2015 Race Edition For ladies...... Chopard Mille Miglia 2015 Race Edition For gents.... Chopard Mille Miglia 2015 Race...

By: MTF : February 25th, 2018-02:20
There is always an exception to every rule. Although this is an automatic winding watch, it has a "fuel gauge" because of the Chopard GTS Power Control reference in the Classic Racing line. The Power Control watches emulate the fuel gauge on car dashboard...

Vintage and vintage inspired

By: nitediver : February 25th, 2018-04:58
Ok, i am almost late...but Sunday is a good day to dig out some nice pics. I keep it simple: two vintage chronograps:: and a "near vintage" - this type XX is from the end of 90s or or very early 2000's, judging from the tritium dial. It has already develo...

Wasn't Leonidas a manufacturer . . .

By: Dr No : February 25th, 2018-12:21
. . . in the narrower sense of the term, designing and producing their own movements? Never seen one in the metal . . . any chance of sharing a movement image? Thanks, Art

Yes, you are right, they made chronograph movements

By: nitediver : February 27th, 2018-02:56
and were therefore considered a competitor to Heuer. I believe the movement on my Leonidas is however a Landeron 48, but i am not 100% certain. I tried to open the case back but failed, have to see my watchmaker. regards Stefan

Oh, please don't make a special trip to your watchmaker . . .

By: Dr No : February 27th, 2018-12:41
. . . just to satisfy my curiosity, Stefan. Leonidas was one of the more prominent actual chronograph manufacturers (in the narrower sense of the term) to the best of my knowledge, but I've never seen one in the metal. I wonder if they had distribution St...
