Zenith

Alchron

Hi Ramon,

I totally agree with you here. Certainly on paper Alchron properties look promising. It scratches black and can be polished, and dampens magnetic fields, and is a light alloy, corrosion resistant. What more can one ask if wanting a black watch? But if you try on a Stratos Flyback in either steel or alchron, the weight difference is quite marginal. It was quite some time ago I tried on the alchron watch, but I do remember it was quite heavy. Personally I like the heft. I also prefer the idea of a black metal than a black ceramic, but my favourite so far, for feel and solidity, were the forged carbon cases we saw on some previous RO Offshores.
That said, I am done with the black trend. The market seems to still have a tremendous appetite for black watches and I am sure Zenith will oblige. Whether they use Alchron again, I am doubtful since they have already started moving on to carbon and ceramics.
Sorry not much help, but do keep the questions flowing and do not hesitate to post your views. We are all novices trying to keep up with technology, but it is interesting thoughts like yours that keep the Zenith forum alive.
