Yes, in Spanish we use the ¿ and ¡ simbols at the beginning of the phrase. This gives a hint of the sense of the coming sentence.
Anyway, though not an accepted practice, I got so accustomed to use exclamation or interrogative simbols at the end only, when writing mails in Spanish!
