Hello friends! Here is my veredict for Watch of the Week Category for this week end theme: "Defining Grail Watch"...
Mar 08, 2020,09:54 AM
... As I suspected, the selection of a winner was no easy task.
Being our theme around watches our community members considered their Grails it was evident we would receive a big array of awesome watches. And that´s exactly what happened.
Additionally, we received a lot of thoughtful comments about what each of our participants define as a "Grail Watch". It was a very interesting reading indeed and I enjoyed so much knowing these thoughts and learn sometimes a very surprising approach to collecting and the meaning of "Grail". I wish all participants enjoyed so much this week end as I did.
I specially thank our friends for such and interesting feedback received about our theme.
Now I should confess that for the first time since I participate in our WS I felt overwhelmed and confused about which one to choose among so many wonderful watches which I consider my Grail Watches in my own wish list.
Lots of watches among the pictures received deserved a first prize.
Before declare the winners I wish to name just a few of those outstanding submissions:
Special mentions go to:
Capt Scarlet and his Rolex 6238 Pre Daytona
Tyo and Moritz with their (Yes, I am a little biassed with this one!) Breguet La Tradition
Watchonthewrist with his De Bethune
Nicolas and his Blancpain FF Military Specs
Thomas/MTR and his IWC Minutes Repeater.
Art/Dr. No and his unique Black Dial Connie.
And the winners are:
Third Place for Jleno and his Moritz Grossmann Grail and part of his so special "one watch collection"
Second place for Fab and his wonderful Patek Boccadasse a very unique piece which combines passion for exquisite watches and Love for his place in the World depicted on the dial. A true Grail Watch!
First Place for Mahesh for his humble, quartz movement Tag Heuer which was his first Grail, his first watch and inspirational enough to start a collecting journey. I also loved to read his definition of Grail as "something elusive like a horizon". This watch shows clearly that there is no need to be expensive or unique to be considered a Grail. It is all about passion, love, inspiration and feelings about a particular piece.
Congrats to winners and special mentions and to all participants of this week end session, thank you so much for contributing to a very interesting and enjoyable week end!
Have a great week ahead friends! Abel.
