. . . and found only one reference to a cal 505 Seamaster chronometer, appropriately from Bill Sohne nine years ago. Gold capped, and likely cased in Switzerland, judging by this image. Reams of posts relating to bumper SM chronometers and '60s 551/56x/75...

Serial number indicate it's from 1959-1960 period..

Yes, you are right, they made chronograph movements
and were therefore considered a competitor to Heuer. I believe the movement on my Leonidas is however a Landeron 48, but i am not 100% certain. I tried to open the case back but failed, have to see my watchmaker. regards Stefan
