WristScan

And the Winners for "Static shot" are..

First off, thank you Robin for allowing me to judge this week's Wristscan. So many quality posts all around with a variety of perspectives of what it means for a watch to be "budget".

The first special mention goes to Nilo for this stunning black-and-white capture of his Athaya Lamafa that appears to be a homage to the iconic Seiko 6105.

Along the theme of divers from unknown brands is another special mention for Abel's beautifully photographed Waldman Submarine. It is so obscure that I can barely find anything online about it, but it does resemble the aesthetics of a vintage Omega SeaMaster 300s - which I love.

A final special mention to Padj for this pair of vintage chronographs from Dreffa and Gallet. Both historically illustrious brands that prove complications can also be affordable.

My pick for second runner-up is NT931's Omega SeaMaster which really drives home the point that vintage is the way to go if you're looking for a quality timepiece that doesn't break the bank. The photo composition is fantastic - with the background beautifully bringing out the character of the dial.

The first runner-up goes to KMII who rightly pointed out that any discussion about great budget watches should include Swatch and especially the Sistem 51 pictured here. KMII also did a creative job in photographing the watch. Overall a great representation of this week's theme and I had a hard time deciding whether or not this should be the winner.

Finally, the winner for this week's Static shot goes to halkcb and his Seiko SNK803. In my mind, there is no doubt that it's one of the best value for money pieces out there and will always be my first recommendation for anyone starting a mechanical watch collection but isn't ready to spend more than US$50. Stunning photography on halkcb's part just puts the cherry on top.

Thank you all participants and congratulations to our winners. May you enjoy all your watches - budget or expensive - in great health. smile
