I should have been clearer by specifying my exact issue. I have a Breguet Tradition 7067 that came on a strap with a tang bucket. The watch was originally configured with with the tang bucket attached to the lugs on the top of the watch case. I had my AD replace the tang buckle with a folding buckle (deployant) and when I received it back from the watchmaker, the strap with the folding buckle was attached to the lugs on the bottom of the watch case. I'm assuming he did this so the pointed end of the strap (end without the buckle) would point away from you when worn on the wrist.

the clasp should open facing you. Just think about how you would pull it open and its makes sense. No need to reach around your wrist to pull it open.

I think it depends on your wrist more than anything
