Decided to wash my Rolex everyday during the summer…
Water and Dawn dish detergent. Result; watch is like new afterwards! I’m fully confident of the water resistance and it’s under warranty. The dish detergent does not leave any residue, from my research and testing.
Now I’m fully at ease with sunscreen and working up a sweat. Game changer 🙂

But you're right about used watches. I always change the strap and clean the bracelets and outside of the case when I get a used watch.
