Your statement has me thinking...

OS was definitely a replacement for the 222 as their "sporty" men's line but they avoided making cross-references between the two in their advertising. CEO Claude Daniel Proellochs on these very pages back in 2004 and the Purists era, stated they intended to distance the OS from those other Genta designs; the Royal Oak, Nautilus and 222 (not above a bit of myth-making, eh?). I also believe they were likely aware there would be some initial scepticism about the new Girard-Perregaux movement replacing the more expensive 1120. While VC later admitted they had reliability problems with the GP calibre, its hard to say if that was attributable to a new, more adventurous, profile of owners the OS created and whether an 1120/21 would have fared any better.

A new 222 for Watches & Wonders?
By: Tick Talk : March 21st, 2022-14:04
Our good friend Respo at TimeZone noted a suggestive tweet posted by VC in February. I guess we will know March 30th... ...
I would think!

The definitely looks like the bezel. I am hoping for an overseas with non polished bezel (either ceramic or Ti or brushed). Or if 222 fits that bill. I just have have steel watch that I use in the pool or on the beach with sand, etc have polished bezel. I...
that would require a complete change

in the OS design brief to abandon the maltese cross-theme bezel. Would VC dare to start a new sporty watch line to pair with the FiftySix?
Would love to see a 222 revival

Would love to see a 222 revival … if it is not super limited like the „Everest“ LE. IMHO, these unobtainum make it less attractive; I would actually prefer to have version which are by application only but not versions which are sold out before being form...
If they carry on with the 1120 calibre

it will not be at the cheaper end. Let's hope they remedy the one design flaw of the original; the attachment of bracelet to head. Two pins inevitably bent, leaving a gap. ...

A 1120 movement would be a dream. There are few models currently using this unique ultra-thin movement … would make it a dream … while also limiting the (production) volume I venture? Ps: beautiful picture btw !
1120 manufacturing rights
By: ChetBaker : March 21st, 2022-21:01
What’s the deal with the 1120 - does AP now have exclusive manufacturing rights, i.e. VC must buy from AP? The online accounts i’m reading or not wholly conclusive.
the QP module

for the 1120 movement has always been manufactured by VC. Compared to the AP version, similar but not the same. ...
Ah right - VC builds its own module and add that to the 1120.
By: ChetBaker : March 22nd, 2022-20:47
But that means VC still depends on AP for the supply of the ebauche. It seems to make business sense but I wouldn’t want to be reliant on a direct competitor for the supply of this ebauche which is clearly essential for the production of some of VC’s top ...

I don’t think so.

Or did the Aquanaut kill the Nautilus hype? I think the OS has tons of qualities in its own right.

That’s true, but

when you look today at the OS 3rd Gen and imagine a 222 next to it, there is a space for both of them in the VC range.
Crossing my fingers

Would love to see the revival of 222 in smaller 36mm size…. Wishful thinking.
