Vacheron Constantin Historiques Cornes de Vache 🐮 1955 mini review
Today I just received the Vacheron Constantin Historiques Cornes de Vache 🐮 so I thought I would share my "mini review".
Allright sometimes watches arrive close to each other 😅 it was not planned but just after my latest Moser I now finally received also this gorgeous Vacheron
The size (38.5) works very well because the cow's horn lugs make it wear a big bigger which I like a lot. I was always fascinated by the Lemania 2310 (of Patek 5070 fame 😅 but also Breguet, Omega 321 with a different finish etc.) which is probably one of the best chronograph movevements ever made. Vacheron finish is stunning.
Here we have the Vacheron Caliber 1142 in all its beauty
I was in love with this particular watch since Hodinkee launched the steel version in 2017. I think that somehow thanks to them Vacheron decided to release this steel version Ref.5000H/000A-B582 that is perfect.
The watch weights 62 grams (the gold version is 85, I think the platinum much more) ans is very comfortable. The Serapian strap very comfortable and more casual than the usual alligator straps.
Here a comparison with the H. Moser Endeavour Tourbillon (42mm)
A lot of 💙for the Corne de Vache 🐮 which I know is very popular in this forum (thanks to the various pics posted by owners that inspired me for years).

regarding the strap I am usually firmly stuck with the original ones...somehow I prefer with the one provided with the watch! (love both of them althrough the Vacheron strap is a bit ticker but probably because is new)

is pretty readable to me but again I have it since few hours only 😅but I do wear good glasses! Writing this in the evening and the contast is pretty good I would say

I understand..I wouldn't say this is the most readable
but, checking again (also without glasses) and the thickness of the hands make it fairly easy to read

somehow it feels more compact, I am enjoying the steel vs gold lighter weight ..both great watches through ! Strap similar or almost identical I would say ...

Because I have a 36.5mm American which is very comfy although because it is in white gold , it is heavier than the stainless steel Cornes de Vache.
I have a 40mm, the watch looks great but it has probably the worse winding than any manual movement

toward the end is very tough..even the crown position and case shape makes it not so comfortable to wind
