or a 'official' factory misprint
Dec 30, 2018,09:00 AM
When you look a little further to the other 60's square ref's of V&C,
like the ref 6290, 6702, 6908, 6559, 6787, 6919, 7297,
then it might occur, you came across similar 'misprints' of the 'S'.
Which naturally raises the question to me, if such an error by the refinisher could happen more often
- even to watches originating (nowadays) from different countries? - Probably not.
Because of the question of the size, this 6290 measures about 26 by 26 mm,
that means the diameter would be about 36,8 mm.
This was the usual size for the men's dress watches in the 1960. It is a medium size, but not very small.
This pictured watch came along with the original documents and so on, at a very reasonable price tag.
In total probably a chance for a good adventure!

First, the watch case is in a very good unpolished condition with some oxydation, this is normal. So the watch is a safe queen. Second, it is nearly imposibel to find this dial after 70 years without spots. So i think it is restored. The "S" also is not n...

a dial refinish
By: anon438 : December 29th, 2018-03:10
I guess the dial is at least a refinish, the 'S' in deed looks very strange. But the case of the watch looks sharp and nice. With no look to the inside, anyway you shouldn't buy. If this is a ref 6290, see case back, it probably come along with cal 1003. ...
