Have to share my newest acquisition:

S&W M28-2 Highway Patrolman! 😁 For comparison (all 4"): 1. N-Frame (S&W model 28) 2. what Ruger would suggest as L-Frame (Ruger GP100) 3. K-Frame (S&W model 547) Interesting: the thickness of the Ruger frame! But it's produced in another way than the S&W ...

Nostalgia

I used to go to the range with my dad, he used to have a S&W 357 with a 3.5".

Banned... what a shame! Hopefully there will be changes in the not-so-far future?!

Ok, this doesn't seem realistic, sadly.

So what happened when they were banned?

Forced surrender?

Sweet!

I like it, and while I know the 4” is the preferred length , I would choose the 5”... Have fun!

Wow! That is sexy looking

That is a real beauty, Ron. I have a mint 6" 28-2

Mine dates to around 1977. I just shot it a few weeks ago, one of my favorite revolvers. I have had a 4" in mind for some time and need to pick one up.

Very nice, I also have several S&W along

I am fortunate to own some very fine pistols, but there is nothing like a revolver.

The feel and sounds of the mechanism - extraordinary. I am no Jerry Miculek, and I like having semi auto pistols. But if I could only own my revolvers or pistols, definitely the wheel guns for me.

Gotta love old-school...

...simple and reliable.

Yes, its called "Highway Patrolman" - you can see it stamped on the barrel on the first picture.

The model 66 is the stainless version of the model 19, am I right?

Tony, I have the Model 19 with the 2 1/2 inch barrel.

It's a badass little gun.

Absolutely love the Model 28

It was meant to be the cheaper version of the Model 27, which was very much the Cadillac of their line. Mechanically identical, but a different grade of finishing, bead blasted instead of deep blueing. The best bargain in the entire S&W catalogue in the 6...

Indeed. A less fancy, less expensive version for the California Highway Patrol.

No top strap checkering or sight markings, the non polished finish. I love my 6", and will add a 4" soon enough.

Yup, issued to the CHP

Also, I think a few were issued in a nickel finish to the Florida Highway Patrol. Dan Tanna, in the TV show Vegas, is carrying a 4” model 28.

That is correct.

I remember reading some years ago that a very small number of 28s were made with a 5" barrel. That would be an incredible one to add.
