TimeOut

While most of England failed to cope with a few snowflakes i did this....

i took my dogs for a walk. the same run they have every day, but slightly different due to the weather. last night i went to bed without a snowflake seen, this morning i woke up to find the garden covered in the stuff and the rest of UK had shut down in Panic. the time is 2pm and pics are straight from the camera so you can see how dark the snow clouds are. this is the main reasons i live where i do smile

3 miles from the village at the top of a 600m 'mountain' there's a large area of forestry with tracks. this is the motor with my mate mike in the passenger seat.

this is the temperature before wind chill.

even the waterfall is frozen. this is usually flowing nicely due to our high rainfall levels.

1 mile in and we reach the lake.

looks like a Fox has been doing his business here, the dogs love a sniff and a roll in the stuff smile in case you cant see, the lake is 1/2 frozen. tomorrow it will be solid.

this is where the real fun starts, engaging low ratio 4 wheel drive. you can just make out the track around the edge of the lake.

all the off road manuals say 'never stop!', but i cant take a pic without getting out.

what a beautiful place i live in. its not often the weather is good enough to appreciate it. today it is very good smile

down hill.

up hill.

we call this bit the ZigZag for obvious reasons. in these pics you dont get the perception of angle of the slope. probably up to 35 degrees in places. very tight and impossible to do in 1 go.

this is a lot steeper than it looks and until last week was blocked by fallen trees that i had to saw up and drag away.

end of the ZigZag looking back up the hill. in total its about 1-1/2 miles and rises/lowers by about 250m.

my boys Fitz and Startz have probably had a long enough run. about 4 miles so far and still 2 miles from the road.

the snow seems to have made a rear mudflap extension smile

that was after just 1 night of light snow. its been snowing consistently since then, the garden is currently about 4 inches deep in the stuff, the schools and University are closed tomorrow so fun for the whole family smile

if you want a 2nd installment of fun in much deeper snow just ask. i may even add a watch to the mix.

forget the recession, life can be fun.
