He has been on my speakers here all day today. I simply cannot believe its been 5 years since he died. It feels much more present to me....It still stirrs my emotions to be honest. It was much too early for him to go. I was shocked when I heard the news. in disbelief. he would only have been 74 two days ago. I feel he still had so much to give creatively and a lead good and fulfilling life with his family. RIP Mr Jones. and thank you for the music!

Luckily we will have his work always.

Bowie ...

David Bowie left us on this day in 2016. The legacy remains as one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century, combining art and rock to give us some of the most sensational music and imagery ever made. Thank you David ...

TRUE STORY (a reprint from a previous post for those that missed it)..

I’m a Bowie fanatic..in 2002 we were living in Brooklyn on the waterfront (Dumbo) in a loft. Next door there was a warehouse that served as a small concert venue for unknown acts. There was some guy scalping tickets outside my door. I asked him who the ac...

Great story Myles.

Because of the venue size (think the size of a large bar) the playlist (all the hits) and that it was entirely a surprise. The only topper would be if he knocked on the door of my loft and set up there. I was already up stair in my loft sitting in the win...

I only saw him play in an NBA arena, no presence. I used to study right down the street from his apartment, on Lafayette, but had no idea.

He was fantastic! So creative! A friend saw him walking around Soho once. I asked her how he was dressed. “Like a homeless person” she said. Classic!

Yeah that street was like the Ziggy cover..

Almost met him as my wife’s cousin dated Earl Slick...what a fearless genius!

What an unforgettable experience and a great story! Ziggy Stardust was one of my...

... most listened-to albums back in the day, even though I didn't listen to as much music as most of my friends did.

Thank you for letting us remember him. He was such a fantastic artist.

i actually found a personal thing from him in my storage, i might sell it one day. What a guy ❤

An exceptional artist with a strong link to Germany as well: his Berlin Trilogy.

He was well before my time, but in my time he was the outstanding artist among others, who were "only" musicians. There is a "David Bowie Straße" in Berlin.

Unbelievable, 5 years already?!

One of my all time favorites from day 1, which for me would have been 10th or 11th grade with Ziggy Stardust. What a talent.

Yes I remember vividly...

Trudging through the Manhattan snow to a record store called disc-o-mat and buying Pretenders and CHANGESONEBOWIE...great discoveries...

Indeed. We miss him.

I never really "got" Bowie............

until after his passing and then began listening to, and watching what i could. on the man. Just a fantastic artist with quite a sideways view of what he wanted to provide. The musical Lazarus being one of those. Also some seriously seriously good haircut...

For fifty years I've wondered where I'd seen Bowie . . .

 By: Dr No : January 10th, 2021-18:53
. . . before. It wasn't until seeing your pic that it dawned he bears a striking resemblance to another celebrated artist. 😌 Never saw him perform live, much to my regret . . . The Man Who Sold the World , Heroes , and Jean Genie all get regular play when...

Well, it seems the notion . . .

. . . didn't originate with yours truly. Others have noted the similarity in the past . . . 'twas a revelation for me today, though. ...

haha, Yes clearly. :-) great!
