.. sure, I am in the finance industry, but I have never felt the need for CFA.... Offers come regardless whether I have such one... Well, I am already in the industry for 20+ years and that may be why 
OTOH, I met many, many people with CFA proudly printed on their business cards, but couldn't really be impressed with them, either (meaning they did not really stand out among the crowd in the real business world). I understand it takes time and money and devotion for certain period of time ONLY for that tests. IMVHO, there are better ways to spend time. Life is too short, for me, to spend time for such tests. I must be wrong and minority here Good luck. It shouldn't hurt your career, either. CPA may be different as it can be a bit more useful....

Depends on what area of finance
It depends on what area of finance you're in. If you're one of the bean counters, then I can see the usefulness of a CPA. But if you're on the investment management side, then CFA and MBA (maybe even a CIPM) is prevalent, at least here in the U.S. Regards...
