It certainly is over kill for a typical

night of 8-Ball. To prevent the cue from cracking due to extreme old age, it certainly won't see much chalk. The original blank was most likely made with animal glue, which after 5 decades maybe very brittle.

Why bother? For a pool enthusiast, this is like a chance to have built your own 1950s Ferrari 250 SWB to your specifications. It won't drive like a modern Le Ferrari, but it will be one of the world's finest completed authentic vintages, built with the original supplier, built by the master, completed by the apprentice and his son. All historically linked together as 4 generations of cue makers.

I have two other completed cues so I have an idea how it plays. No one I have met actually still play with this makers cues. They decorate climate controlled display cases.
