I really like Japanese rock gardens...
The tranquility of a Japanese rock garden with its raked sand is extremely serene, peaceful, and beautiful. Since so much surface area is devoted to sand and rock, there is very little to water and maintain.
It's also very easy to integrate architectural sculptures in this kind of environment. The surroundings aren't overwhelming to the point that it will detract from the sculpture.
Something to consider.
Wish I had some photographs, but I don't. But I'm sure you can find some online.
