SVI aka Infinity (the frame is also known as the STI/CMC/McCormick as they have a intertwined history). It's the same brand as the one in my Avatar. I believe Brownells (I recalled you got the new catalog right?) lists only STI frames now. -MW

that it is the best . Just looking at that photo is enough to draw such conclusion, firing it must be an exhilarating experience after which all other 1911s seem lame in comparison LOL .

I might actually get easily killed if a gunfight ever erupted and I had such a 1911 on me because I would first have to take a long (okay, very long) admiring glance at the finish before pointing the gun anywhere LMAO . And after spending the better part ...  

The gunbuilder is cool but options for you on a new Infinity is limited due to Cali state law. Nothing wrong with a nicely setup Springfield or Les Baer. -MW

always have to keep in the back of the mind that California is 'special' . Of course there's nothing wrong with Springfield or Baer 1911s, but when the difference in finish level is so obvious even from a photograph one must concur that the best is the be...

I do like the Operator a huge deal! And there is no dispute that both S.A. and Baer 1911s are nothing short of excellent. My impression however from purely looking at the guns and never actually using either is that the Infinity 1911s are a notch above in... 

that the Brownells catalog is one of the Bible for us gunbuilders. Next time we meet up I'll explain all the parts to you. FYI, I'll posting about the 1911 on the PPro TimeOut forum so watch for it. -MW

Hi Adamska, DRMW has some great suggestions for 1911's. But I'd like to recommend one more if you're looking for a classic single stack: Ed Brown Custom Guns. The absolute best beavertail and thumb safety parts and contours IMHO. And he has a Cali complia... 

I've spent quite a bit of time reading up and visiting the SVI, STI, Ed Brown websites. I read about the history of STI and how Strayer Voigt left them in '94 to establish SVI. Then I read about SVI . Very cool stuff. I watched several videos of the manuf...

Since you are familiar with photobucket, once you are logged in and looking at your 'ALBUM', find the photo you would like to post. With your mouse, put the pointer over the pic you want and it will pop up a box under the photo. Under the SHARE/EDIT/DELET...
