I count myself fortunate to have seen them more than a few times over more than the last several years. Absolutely freaking gutted. RIP Professor, and best wishes to your friends and family.

And always went when they came to town over the last 15 yrs or so. Such incredible experiences that I will miss deeply.

One interesting and IMHO admirable thing is that Geddy, Alex and everyone else who knew that he was ailing kept it to themselves. Very unusual in this day and age of celebrity and internet voyeurism. My hat goes off to those who knew but respected Neil's ... 

No Neil (or Alex or Geddy), no Rush. I'm glad for that even though I'm sorry never to see them in concert again.

I believe he had a younger child, and much tragedy was visited on him throughout his life. Teen daughter died in a car accident; wife died young.

Neal, was a great drummer. I do not know Rush, while i knew almost anything about artist, bands. I understand he was a kind of Jimmy Hendriks, but than on drums.

There are a few documentaries about Rush which are really good. As a band and musicians, they refused to compromise, and they put it all on the line with their breakthrough album 2112. Really interesting backstory.

I decided to listen to Rush. I think i go to recognize some songs of Rush. ...  

Tom Sawyer (most popular) Limelight Free Will Spirit of Radio Subdivisions 2112 And very many other less well-known but exceptionally good songs. They were very prolific. A thinking man's band, but also with compelling musicianship.

What you say, i thought about. I do not heard Rush on the radio, and many music i discover by listening radio. Imagine Dragons Paramore. Many music i discover by family members. This artist i discover by coincidence by an uncle, the record of Kraftwerk - ... 

In North America, Rush had decent radio play in the 80s and early 90s. Nothing now, except occasionally on Classic Rock stations. By the way, my moniker -- Vital Signs -- is a much-loved (by me) Rush song. Masterful lyrics by Neal Peart. I did enjoy stayi...

I agree Alex’s topped it, though. Totally gutsy, clever and irreverent.

Rush, love or hate them, can't deny their unique and varied approach. Hard work payed off handsomely for them.

Some music from my youth has not lived on, but Rush still does (and they still made excellent albums in the last decade, Snakes and Arrows being my favorite of the recent ones).

A strong argument can be made Neil was the most uniquely gifted drummer in Rock Music History. His combined Divinely given talent as a player with a cerebral approach to his instrument along with world class ability as a lyricist. Very rare indeed.

He was the forth best drummer of all time. Favorite drummers is for me different, than the best or a mix between. Ginger Baker from Cream, had that great beat. In i feel free, he drum dry, and that sound fits perfectly with Eric his first riff and Jack Br...

and put things straight, when I say the States, it was actually Canada, my wife pointing out my reference is often viewed an insult to Canadians! It was a memorable trip all said and done.
