The Seiko SCBS017 Discus Burger - looking at time a tad differently 🛸🍔🇯🇵
I have been a fan of Seikos Moving Design collection since I found out about it and managed to bag a Discus Burger - the SCBS017 specifically - some years later. Sometimes one gets lucky and after a concerted effort over some months the owner agreed to part ways with it 😊
The three rotating discs for hours, minutes and seconds make for a very intuitive way of telling time. I guess they are heavier than hands, requiring somewhat more torque from the movement, otherwise I think they should have become a lot more popular (Seiko being far from the only brand utilizing the concept).
Still, the discs, combined with the Death Star design make the watch quite special, as does the small run (this one was made in only 100 pieces).
Any other Discus Burgers, or watches displaying time somewhat differently on wrists this weekend?

The black face makes it a tad severe, but the green markers make a nice contrast and I imagine other colors were made. Best, Emmanuel

The two most frequent ones had a semi transparent cover in either milky white or blackish color. There was a silver one and a brown one, too. I would have been happy with any of them 👍🏻

The case has a sandwich construction…
The main case isn’t DLC but the case front and case back are. The others partially have the main one in DLC and not the front or back.
