IN JAPAN THE SEIKO 6105 and IT'S CLAIM TO FAME
NAOMI UEMURA
During his Solo expedition in the North Pole his Rolex broke before his attempt, a Japanese journalist gave his Seiko 6105 to Uemura. He was originally wearing his Explorer, but the lubricant froze even though the watch was inside his pocket. A 6105 was offered by a Japanese journalist at the supply point. So in Japan this is the claim to fame of this Seiko model.
Naomi Uemura Japanese adventurer. He was particularly well known for doing alone what had previously been achieved only with large teams. For example, he was the first man ever to reach the North Pole solo, the first man ever to raft the Amazon solo, and the first man ever to climb Denali solo.

About Captain Willard
Coppola offered the part first to Steve McQueen, who did not want to leave the United States at that time due to his recent film "Papillon" that was shot in Spain and Jamaica, then to Al Pacino. Pacino, who could not stand 17 weeks of filming in the jungle, as he had been extremely ill in the Dominican Republic while filming Godfather II, so Coppola offered Willard's role to James Caan and then to Jack Nicholson, who both declined. He finally gave it to Harvey Keitel, only to fire him six weeks into production. Step in Martin Sheen who was finally available and free from other film commitments for the role after Mr. Keitel was let go.
