My budding vintage GS collection

Jan 08, 2023,23:36 PM

Recently stumbled upon the Grand Seiko guy’s wonderful website/substack and the Seiko guy’s complete guide to vintage GS webpage and have completely gone head first into this little area of the watch world. Had I found this stuff out during the pandemic I’m sure I’d own 20 by now as they’re so interesting to learn about and cheap enough to genuinely collect (Journe for me fulfills only the former unfortunately).

Frankly it’s unbelievable these 3 cost under 5k altogether and I happened to sell 2 Kurono Reiwa at the same time for the same price which must be the trade of the century. Altogether I bought 5 in December with two awaiting delivery. Let’s see what the rest of 2023 brings! Main target - a great 44gs!

Current collection:
- 4520-8000
- 6146-8050
- 5722-9991

Incoming:
- 6145-8000 cross hair dial
- 6156-8020 special in gold cap

for quality and strap pairings are 👌🏻

You know I’m heavily biased towards these. Great trio, with two more cool ones on the way.

It’s amazing that prices have remained relatively low, even allowing for GS and vintage GS hitting the big auction catalogs in recent years. I’m hoping to add one or two to my little vintage GS collection later this year. Specifically another 61GS, but a ...

Great rabbit hole to disappear down:(
