Funny you talk of the Tokyo Speedy.

On my last trip, towards the end of year 2019, I tried a few of them and fell hard for the “Red”. Even tried it twice on that trip. But I had long held plans for the Olympics and so I decided if I could find one on that trip (summer 2020) I’d buy it. Of course, Tokyo 2020 never happened and neither did the trip (waiting to see how long it will be before my event tickets get refunded, needless to say there has been zero communication up to now). Still, it’ll be something I keep my eye out for on the next visit as I do my usual circuits of the used watch stores.
Re the Tuna, it was actually on Paneristi that I first saw a post of one (long long time ago). And a few years later I picked up my first one from a used dealer in HK. They wear really well, there are no lugs and that’s the key. But they are still a big watch, and for sure when I would wear one at work it would attract some attention so they are likely one of the more popular conversation pieces I own (at least among work colleagues).

Funky indeed, that’s a large part of the attraction for me.

I believe the shroud is ceramic, that’s my recollection but it was a long time ago when I bought it (2011). My other Tuna is a Golden Tuna, also Quartz, I like the colours as they add a bit of fun to the funky ! A great Emperor you have.

That’s actually a good rule, buying a Seiko in Japan. The only thing that prevented me from doing so was that I can get JDM pieces at a better price ironically outside of Japan..

But I need to change that thinking and look at it as a commemorative purchase In fact I was even thinking about getting a Tokyo ltd ed speedy because I missed my chance to go visit Japan ilast year. Would be a good conversation piece once I get to see Cas...
