You have and ...have had.... some beautiful watches through the years.

I don't know if I am following your footsteps, or you, mine! I have bought and sold and bought and sold, tweaking my collection.
Sometimes tweaking over years, months, or days, depending on my whims.
I guess it's all a part of this "hobby" (or obsession). I hope you are enjoying the journey (that never seems to end).

It’s good to wear her again…

A timeless beauty and a purchase I will never regret. Sometimes I miss its predecessor: But 20 years ago the only financial option I had was to sell something so that I could buy something new. In this case a Patek AC (5146G), which I don't even own anymo...

It’s now a different kind of story for me, dear Ron.

I used to have to give watches away again and again. Most of the time, however, it were the pieces that I couldn't really bond with. Why? Because, deep down, they didn't fit for me. In the past, I often turned a blind eye to the selection and made comprom...

By the way, was the 'old' day-date a Day-Date II (218239)? Regards, George
Thanks for the clarification, Thomas.

I should have noticed at first glance it was the 36 mm version. Elegant, but perhaps a tad too small for your wrist. Have a good day. George
I feel the same.

I also shortlisted the silver dial and the dark blue one. Luckily I had the opportunity to see all variants in person. And then the decision for the green dial was very clear to me. Cordially Thomas ...
Great pictures Thomas!

And all lovely watches. I particularly like the silver white dial of the old Day Date, but I would greatly enjoy any of those watches! All the best, Jon
Thanks a lot for your kind reply, dear Jon.

Yes, the old DD 36 was very special. It was also in WG and had not the typical fluted bezel which made the whole watch not too offensive. It was a wonderful piece I wore almost a decade “day and night”. But somehow I got the feeling it was too small for m...

This DD is a real gem! I just sold my first watch this week so who knows where this journey will lead to.
Which watch did you sell?
By: MTR : July 11th, 2022-19:51
And yes, it’s always an interesting and very personal story. Best Thomas
A very special piece you don’t see often.

I understand your regret. On the other hand - perhaps it helps you a little bit - for my taste the design of the date window and, above all, its placement are not optimally solved. It’s always a good feeling to know where your Ex goes. 😉 Do you already kn...

My own and only Patek so far. And gone… I just couldn’t live with this white date window. It made me … nervous. But I am „special“ in that regard, I know 😁 IWC MR: I heard about these problems. Perhaps they were in the 1st generation? I own the second gen...

I came very close to acquiring a 5146G, so that watch has a special memory to me. I agree about the date window, but what until you see the 5960P with the grey dial. THREE white disc windows! My IWC Repeater at the 6 o'clock. It was a 2009 model if I reca...

In this dial version you mentioned, the three white date windows bother me less, since the counter is also white. So it is a harmonious design for me. But these date window variants - for example - really warm my heart: Terrible, what are we doing here???...
Nice examples!

I too like the examples you've shown. Lovely dials.
Thanks a lot for your reply.

For me it started to feel a tad too small over the years. Due to the bracelet in the same color the watch looks bigger on my wrist then it was in reality. Best Thomas
Hi hear you.

Many feel 36mm may be a tad small for today’s tastes. Your larger DD looks fabulous in its own way.
There is no right and no wrong.
By: MTR : July 13th, 2022-22:50
For many enthusiasts (and for almost all of us for a rather long time), a case size of 36 mm was / still is ideal, for others it is not. I personally feel much more comfortable with 40 mm.
You are too kind!

I hope that we will write to each other for a long time. And hopefully meet for a Negroni one day, my friend. Therefore I must try to increase your resilience. Kind of like heart training. 😁🙏 Sorry for the wrong forum. ...
Thanks a lot, mon ami. 🤣
