Rolex

This is a humble watch from Rolex...

A little ref 1501 model Date which shares its design with its "big brother" the famous and classic Datejust, except this model has a 34 mm case.

This watch is from 1968 and is a cute watch which is very enjoyable and charming on the wrist with its original riveted Oyster bracelet and a heavy patina dial and a bezel which reminds me a variant used in early bubblebacks.

This modest watch in particular has an special collector interest in my personal case as it was originally retailed by the International well known local jewlery and watch shop Ricciardi of Buenos Aires.

Rolex timepieces retailed by Ricciardi got an special serial number under one of its lugs and it was registered in their shop books as well as in the sale papers together with the Rolex serial number.

I can' t say for sure if this tiny number was stamped in Rolex or in the Jewlery shop, but I feel this procedure was an exclusivity of this local retailer which was the main local agent of Rolex in Argentina in the 1950's through 80's and also agent for many other prestigious watch brands like Patek.

Hope you'll like the watch and enjoy the photos!
Cordial regards, Abel
