The feel of the case in your hand counts
In addition the watch has a very tight bracelet I 70 that is almost unworn which is also anecdotal evidence that this watch has had very little use on the wrist. I would say it is 10% used.
No matter how good the watchmaker is he has to remove some metal to refresh the case and the evidence is hard to hide but only when you have another example next to it to compare. That is the real trick. An expert can give the feel of being unpolished when it stands alone but it will not stand the comparison.
Also in this example it has clearly been worn this is not a NOS watch that was sitting in a drawer. So the watch carries the scars but the meat is all there.

Whenever I can find interesting aspect that I have learned I always enjoy sharing them in the same way you and the other members here do. It was an unusual opportunity to find this prime example and I happened to have the camera ready. Best Bill

What constitutes a 'polished'/'unpolished' case? Would you classify one which was done 'at home' with a polishing cloth as one? and how much 'polished' could one be done this way? Usually I would take this as 'shinning' rather than polishing. So if such s...
