Yep...In Paris....and on an occasion when El Vlado was not in town too!! Though he did play some part in the game. Thanks Damjan. Rolex is a fantastic and deep playing ground. The 6542 has always been a bete noir for me..... it will be a voyage of discove...

Great buy Joe. Stop worrying about the bakelite. You always hear ho fragile it is but I have not seen many post showing the bakelite broken. For me I was spooked also in the beginning so I bought a spare set. Hard to find them so that can be an adventure ...

Congratulations on this Iconic piece. Yes the 6542 has 'this special something'. For me its a charming watch and I still am hunting for a specimen like yours. Black glossy gilt dial with a a beautiful bakelite bezel. It is a watch that has more charm than...

My 6542 would not want to seen with the 'clunky, heavy and just weird looking' SD - don't worry. GMT Master 6542 are in a league of their own. Not even a 6200 is wished for at this party. We (6542) accept nothing but other bakelite bezels, ofcourse uncrac... 

And to paraphrase that great saying.... "If you can keep your head when all those around you are losing theirs, its quite possible that you haven't quite grasped the situation." GMTs are cool. They are colourful. They are the Sugar Ray Leonards..... The S...

.....not under any stretch of the imagination...can a GMT represent the Muhammad Ali of the Rolex range!!! Not even close. Like you, I think Ali represents the "Greatest", and to be in that category, we need to be in Rolex dive watches. The GMT has finess...

All of my vintage watches came about by chance. I never really Plan or Hunt them vigorously. And i like it this way. I hope that day comes when i meet a lovely 6542. When it happens, you will the the first one i contact. :-))) Iceman

My holiday just came to an end .....feeling blessed to be able to spend 26 days with all my immediate Family......all 23 of US. . I think Only God can make it happen, and for that i am very thankful to HIM. Iceman.
