Rolex

Prices are crazy all over the world right now and Italy is no exception. Yet, I found exactly what I was looking for. A semi-vintage 5 digit Rolex with a full set papers from an authorized dealer in Rome. The piece I acquired was a 16610 Submariner from 2...  

And I agree, better sizes/dimensions. A wonderful full-set you received. The 16610 is the first nice watch I bought, some 25+ years ago (spent *way* beyond my means at the time, but nothing else would do). Still have it and will never sell it; wear it rar... 

My first was a 16710 (Coke), which is still my favorite. I have several other 5 digit references, including a black dial16750.

I think a watch purchase on a holiday trip is one of the fantastic joys of our self-indulgent hobby. I always look forward to finding something when on vacation but rarely have luck.

A great way to keep the memory of travel alive. I usually do lots of homework and map a little map in advance of the places I want to hit. I’ll often make appointments too, like this time. Planning is a big part of the fun.

still freash and reliable to wear it everyday ,still reasonably priced ,and most importantly still having the design we love in sports Rolexes from the fifties and what totally disappeared with the introduction of the supercase. I d send it for an overhau... 

As to servicing, it’s running +3 secs a day so I’ll hold off I think for now. Rolex really is amazing in this regard.
