I guess there must be a lot of watch enthousiasts with this same dilemma. My father also wears a Rolex and I truly understand the quality and history of Rolex timepieces. It's probably a much have for anyone who is into watches, but same with certain car brands; do you want to be seen with it? I don't like the cyclops that much either, but think it's a Rolex trademark. You might as well not like the crown! For a long time I thought about a Explorer I and an Oyster Perpetual without date. I suppose this is just because they don't look like Rolex?! Now I am looking for an Explorer II. IMO a true sports/tool watch and I don't give an inch what people think of it.
So thanks for your convincing post, enjoy your GMT and may many others come. Black dial Daytona huh? Favorite of mine too, but hard to get for a fair price (well fair for me anyway).
