Rolex

For some time, I have looked at the big crowns and wondered if ever I would manage to find one that I fell for. I have owned a Tudor BC before, but for one reason or another I decided not to keep it. I have never owned a Rolex big crown. I saw an absolute...  

Not only you got a 6200, but aa very nice one. An icon, a very important watch, which can sum what is a Subamriner, as the mother of all Subs. One of the two or three Vintage Rolex which count. You know how much I love my Tudor 7924, but it can't compete ... 

...well, I guess you knew it was coming.... man, i forgot just how big those cronwns are back to being a member of the Order of the Knights of the Big Crown again!!

it takes alot of luck, fate, networks, chance and of course some sea-viewing beach resorts to land a rare piece like this. I can't think of any other ways to collect a vintage better than a friend's assistance to top it all. The watch is rightfully yours ...

even if a little bit of lume is missing, the "9" still looks very nice. You're right not to expect perfection for a 60 years old toolwatch. Crazy prices now demand crazy standards, that most of the time just don't make any sense imho.

for your poor 6200 with its falling luminous... And as you're a friend, no extra cash from your side. I would be less severe about VRF... There are very good people, there, like let's say, in a polite way, much less well educated people... Like everywhere... 

i never meant to imply that VRF is all-bad....just that the ratio of A-holes to good guys is high. Yep..... thanks for you kind offer on the Tudor Black Bay..... i will chew on it.......very kind by the way....

Then there are a Rolex 6200................and that is not many! I am not qualified enough to make comment on its rarity, condition, movement etc. But I would like to add my full heart congratulations on tracking down and acquiring such a rare grail Rolex...

I think better you return the watch to the seller but give me his number before you do. I'll "arrange" for him take it off you. Then the issues is solved. A skinny lume is really to be concern about, I tell you. Never mind the rest of the watch is in grea... 

I love the simplisity of the explorer dial in the submariner format - a very nice, clean face. You've found yourself a stunning vintage sub there!! (very envious!!!) cheers Tony

if you have a spare kidney i'll take it i dont know much about these old Rolex thingies, but i can appreciate a superb vintage watch when i see one and this fits the bill nicely. this was a lucky find and you have a great friend to let you take it over hi...

......you have an altogether different problem.....this is how your problem works: Wake up: Oh god, what make of watch should i wear to day? Longines, Tudor, AP, Patek, Rolex, Omega, VC...... Then: Uhm, which style do i need..... Then..... which era shoul...

a nice shell cordovan Nato or something ive recently discovered kangaroo suede Nato. ive yet to buy one, but the natural colour would match a pale lume and then they do tan, blood red, dark brown and black. ill be trying one as the cordovan is tried an... 

I think this is the ulrimate grail in terms of Big Crowns and Subs!!! I wish I have the chance to see it in real soon!!!...I've never seen a BC with explorer dial in the flesh! Congrats and thanks for sharing Matt

The 6200 is the root of all Rolex Submariner... You are extremely lucky to be able to find one in this condition I'm very happy for you my friend... Hope to see more shot of this beauty!! Best, Sam

6200 is the chief of the BC family, only 5510 is close to it for rarity, but no 369 dial except for rare (military ?) pieces. I own this one, so yours has a twin brother now....
